Why PowerRadio?
The built-im FM player - at least on HTC HD - misses many feaures i'dlike to have in a FM radio. PowerRadio delivers many data available viaRDS which would otherwise be invisible to the listener. Here are just afew examples:
- Radiotext: contains information broadcast by the respective station. What you get here totally depens on the broadcaster. You might seetitle and interpret, call-in numbers, SMS trafficservice numbers, URL'setc.
- traffic announcements
- program type
- coverage area
- date, time, timezone
- various status flags

Making of:
PowerRadio is built on top of flywhc's GFMAPI, which currently supportsDiamond, Raphael, Blackstone, Polaris, X1, Rhodium, Topaz.
Screen resolution is designed to work with VGA and WVGA devices only.

Credits:
Full credits to flywhc for his GFMAPI, which brings full RDS power to the developer.

Usage:
After setup when started for the first time, PowerRadio will scan thewhole band for stations, storing them to the available preset buttons.

manual scan: long-press "scan" button to get context menu with various options
preset buttons: long-press a button to get context menu with options for store, delete, rename
ear/spk: switch between earphones and speaker
mute/unmute: self explanatory
blend: improves stereo reception and/or expands stereo base
stereo: switch between mono/stereo
frequency: long press to enter frequency directly

All settings are saved in PowerRadio.ini.

Version history
v1.2.0.1
- bugfix when number of stations exceeds number of presets during scan
- initial scan after install is now optional (you will be asked)
v1.2.0.0
- "replaces font" bugpartially fixed. While PowerRadio is running, font is still replaced. On exit font will be switched back
- volume bug on start fixed
- fixed volume display bug, bar never reached 100%
- version string added
- country settings are now evaluated
- allows user defined scan sensitivity
- skinning support: limited support is offered, for details see skinning.rtf
- more preset buttons: added a bank-switch feature which allows for 9banks of 15 presets. Selected bank is displayed beneath the volumebarsas "FMx". To switch between banks simply tap the area above the presetbuttons. You have to edit PowerRadio.ini manuallyto set the desired number of banks. Find the line "NumberOfBanks=3" andchange it to your desire. After that, PowerRadio must be restarted.
- waitcursors are added where it makes sense. There is no waitcursor onexit of PowerRadio, wait at least 10 secs. before attempting to startany program that uses the FM-radio.
- scan: all presets are cleared when initiating a scan, except lockedpresets. RDS station names are stored during scan. some stations havescrolling or switching names. this can lead to unpredictible results.anyway you can always edit a station name manually by long-click on apreset.
- presets can now be locked, which protects them from being overwritten during a scan.
- power management added: most of the background processes areterminated when device is on idle. this may however need improvement.
- accidentially hidden SIP will be restored
- BETA: support for wired headset button. Run "HeadsetButtonHandler" toinstall / uninstall this feature. When HeadsetButtonHandler isinstalled and PowerRadio is running, doubletap the headsetbutton skipsto next preset. If PowerRadio is not running it executes the defaultaction (usually redial last contact).

Thanks to all (beta) testers!

Upcoming features / fixes
- evaluate RDS checkwords next release
- optional PDA time sync when RDS time info arrives next release
- 50 kHz step tuning investigating
- save/restore presets soon
- number of preset banks adjustable via GUI, expands automatically during scan if necessary soon
- process alternate frequency list soon
- check duplicate stations based on AF later
- rearrange presets later
- landscape support later
- integrate with external audio recording app subject to investigation

Discontinued features / research / approach
- stereo indicator derived from pilot signal
not possible, seems to be not supported by FMSAPI.DLL
- support for QVGA, WQVGA, or others smaller than 640 x 480 px
sorry folks, this software needs plenty of room on the screen.
