| DS Helper ![]() | [TUTORIAL]Hacking S60 3rd - permissions for untrusted midlet So, here's the hacking alternative - proceed at your own risk. By replacing some strings, we can give equals permissions to untrusted applications with the manufacturer signed applications. First, update your S60 phone normally using Software Update tool from Nokia. It downloads updates to your harddrive, storing binary images to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Service Layer\A\nsl_service_module_00001\[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] okia.com.oti.caresuite\Products\<phonemodel> Directory contents look interesting and for my phone there is about 50 MB rom image there. Simple strings scan on rom image shows contents some fragments of text based java permission file, which by closer look very interesting (at around 0x2310000 in my case) : Now, all you need to do is to open up your favourite hex editor and write "MaximumMode: Blanket" to permissions you want to allow, and if you feel risky you can change the DefaultMode as well. Now re-run the software update, force re-runing and phone will be flashed with your new permissions. After installing midlet, you should see more permission options in the application manager (select midlet, click open)... |

| DS Helper ![]() | (TUTORIAL) how to make a sub dir from the menu (not rquired in OS 9.2) ive found a way to make sub directorys inside the menu and it works flawlessly, as you can see here, i have moved my connetivity folder into my media folder as a demonstration heres how its done first you need to make your new folder (or an existing folder, doesent matter) and move this folder so it is the first folder on the menu. heres an example, if i wanted to move the office folder (and all its contents) this is were it has to be first ![]() now you need to send an .sis file to your phone, (it really does not matter which app or game) as you can just unistall after now you install the .sis as you normally would, then as soon as its complete, press menu (need to be fast here) and highlight a non folder icon (like logs or camera etc etc) and press options. now just wait. after a few seconds, you will see your cursor go back to highlight the folder at the start, (the one which you moved there just now) ,in this demonstration it would be my office folder. and now because you still have the options menu open, you will see that you still have the option to move to folder normally not an option on any symbian phones. when your cursor has highlighted over folder, thats it, just simply select move to folder and then move the folder to another folder.. do the same thing to move the folder back (if you want to) just place folder as first one from that menu, and follow steps again , this time moving back to menu this also works if you uninstall a app /game and quickly move to menu as soon as its finished uninstalling, as this also refreshes the menu, causing the cursor to jump to the first icon, be it a folder or application icon. note this works on n70 as this is tested on n70, and folder stays where you put it even after restarting phone, i dont know if this will work on other symbian phones but see no reason why it shouldnt,.this is great way to orginise your applications games even hide away all those unneeded ROM applications another more easier way to refresh menu, simply open FExplorer and goto !/system/apps/ and rename any app folder to anything you want. example !/system/apps/appman becomes !/system/apps/.appman (notice the . dot) now as soon as you press ok to rename the folder, tap menu key and same steps as above from there after you move your choosen folder simply rename, or delete the . dot from the app folder you renamed so !/system/apps/.appman back to !/system/apps/appman note you still must arrange your folder you want to move as the very first icon on the menu display before you open FEexplorer, otherwise you just wont have enuf time before the menu refreshes its even possible, and stable to have folders, inside folders, sub sub directorys. possibilitys are endless. im very curios on which other phones this works on it works a treat on n70, no problems as yet, everything is still very stable.. |

| DS Power Member ![]() | Now use FONTS with USB MASS STORAGE MODE (without restarting phone) Here's the guide: 1. You require the following softwares on ur phone before contuning furthur: FontRouter LT for v9 Build20071109 (Note:no signing requests shall be accepted here. X-plore (search the forum for its download link. Download and install it) 2. A very important step: Install FontRouter LT for v9 Build20071109 on ur MEMORY CARD and not in your phone memory 3. After installing it, open X-plore and goto C:\data folder and create a New Folder and name it Fonts. Here C:\ points to ur internal memory Then open the following folder E:\data\fonts. Here E:\ is the path of your memory card. 4. There you will find a file named FontRouter.ini .Move ur pointer over this file and Click "2" on ur keypad or Menu - Edit - Move to move this file to the folder C:\data\fonts . Now ur folder E:\data\fonts will be empty. Delete this folder 5. Now goto the folder C:\data\fonts. There u will find the file u moved before i.e. FontRouter.ini .Click "8" on ur keypad or Menu - File - Edit. 6. A new window will open n x-plore where we shall edit this file. Now u will have to scroll down a bit down where u shall find the following text written: ;Extra font files to be loaded ExtraFontFile=\Data\Fonts\*.* Bring ur cursor in front of \Data and add C: before it so that it becomes ;Extra font files to be loaded ExtraFontFile=C:\Data\Fonts\*.* Now click Menu - Save and exit this window 7. We are almost done now. Just copy ur new font file to the folder C:\data\fonts. Exit X-plore and restart ur phone. 8. If everything is fine, u shall see ur new fonts activated. Try and connect ur usb cable in Data Transfer mode. Volla it works Note: If ever u want to againg change ur fonts, just edit the file FontRouter.ini again and look for the string ; Enable/Disable main function of FontRouter ; Default=1 Enable=1 Change Enable=1 to enable=0 Enable=0 Restart ur mobile. Now just put ur new fonts in c:\data\fonts and remove the old ones. Again edit fontrouter.ini and replace enable=0 with enable=1 REPLACE THE FONTROUTER.INI FILE WITH THE ONE I ADDED IT WILL BE IN {MMC:\DATA\FONTS} Have FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! {NOTE:Tested and working} FontRouter[1].LT.for.v9.Build20071109.unsigned.rar (Sign it first) |
