It will execute on any handheld device or mobile, supporting Java 2 Micro Edition (actually CLDC1.0/MIDP1.0). Also you can run it on an emulation environment such as "J2ME Wireless Toolkit" from Sun or other ones from Siemens, Nokia, etc. k-IRC allows you to login to an IRC server, enter multiple channels at the same session, talk in the channels and with individuals and receive others' messages and easily keep the track of active channels and switch between them. Note: The only feature mobile set must support is establishing *TCP/IP Socket* connection since the program tries to establish a direct socket connection to IRC server. More Information • Type Of Application: Utility - Entertainment • Nature Of Application: Chat (IRC) Client – Network Based • Network Connectivity: TCP/IP (Socket) User Guide [This User Guide is kind of a Screen-Oriented Tour] The first screen, after the application launched, is the main status screen where the connection status (where you’re connected or not) and active user is displayed there. The options you have on this screen are Connect (connecting to an IRC server), Console (viewing the content of the console, mostly for tracing the more detailed status and error messages), About (a short description about the program) and Exit (for quitting the application). If you select the Connect option, a new screen will be displayed and you should enter the server address, port, your nick name, alternate nick name and so on. After completing the requested information, just select the Login for logging in and connecting to the server. You should wait till the process gets finished (you can see a wait screen on this stage) or you’ll also have an option to cancel it. In all the cases (whether you can login successfully or not or even you cancel it), you’ll return back to the main screen but the only difference is the status and options you’ll see there. <Connected !> in the case of successful login and <Not Connected !> otherwise. By successfully logging into an IRC server you’ll have (and see) more options, Join (joining a new channel), Active Channels (getting the list of active channels and switching among them) and Disconnect (disconnect from server). Selecting the Join option will lead you to ‘Join To New Channel’ screen. The only information you should provide here is the Channel Name. Then by selecting the Join option, the program will send a join request to IRC server and you should wait till you enter the channel and channel screen comes up! Well, when your desired channel screen came up, it’s ready to get and display the public messages of the channel and private messages from users. In addition you can send your own public and private messages to the channel and users there. Here in this screen you’ll have the following options, Close (closing the channel screen and returning to the previous screen), Users List (viewing the list of current channel’s users and have more options there such as sending private messages), Part Channel (part/abandon the current channel, remove it from actives and close the screen), Send Message (send a public message to the channel) and Active Channels (getting the list of active channels and switching among them). For sending a public message to the current channel, you should go for Send Message option. You’ll be shown another screen where you can enter your message and Send it. Selecting the Users List option will lead you to another screen where you can have more options on current channel’s users. All the users are listed here and by selecting any of them you can get more information about him/her (User Info) or send a private message to (Private Msg). Some server list added(",) |
